After hearing Desdemona like 500 times on Dark Horizons, I finally had to buy their new album. And it rocks. Purchase links are on the YouTube video page.
Cwn Annwn performing Lord of All Vipers from their first album, The Method of Murder, last night at Station 4 in St. Paul.
Oh how I miss this band! You’re Pretty from Milwaukee. They were poised to make it and then….their singer walked away. This song is called Letting Go from Beautiful Accident, which you can still get from CDBaby.
Alone I sit and count sad days they all amount I don't think that you'll understand just hear me out Or let me let me be Do you believe that time will wait for you? Can you tell me there's something I can do I've had too much to drink and now its making me think That I'm too strong to fake it so I'll move on And turn away Do you believe that time will wait for you? Can you tell me there's something I can do I stand here looking down too afraid to turn around And face what lies behind me and too afraid of letting go I'm letting go and falling in I don't care I'm finally jumping
You can interpret this song in a lot of ways and even though it’s extraordinarily dark lyrically and musically, to me it’s about letting go of the things holding you back and taking a chance.
MOAR METAL!!!! Release by Thira at Ground Zero.
Yay for the Panasonic ZS20 camera handling the audio from up front!
Thira - The Corroded live from last night at Ground Zero. The Thira boys have some big things in the works. Stay tuned for more info.
Oh and the new camera did alright with the audio, so I’m pleased with my purchase :)
November is National Podcast Post Month and after learning about this at about 8:30 pm on November 1, I decided to give it a try…30 podcasts in 30 days. It’s quite an ambitious goal, especially as a last minute decision and especially after a long podcasting hiatus, but we’ll see how well it goes. So far, I’m 3/3.
Gabriel and the Apocalypse are joined by Cameron Heacock of American Head Charge to perform Pretty Disaster from their latest record, New World Disaster. GATA are definitely one of the best live bands in Minneapolis right now.
Sorry it’s dark. The lighting at the Triple Rock is less than ideal and I’m still learning how to do record video with this camera.
I’m back from my UK adventure and have finally been able to post the interview with Minneapolis industrial-metal band Thira. We talk about Thira’s intense and dynamic stage show, riffing the lights, writing music around a laptop..naked, Grand Funk Railroad, and sister bands. This show is HEAVY, but to those faint of heart, don’t let that deter you…it was a very fun interview and there’s also new music from Ayria, Garbage, Thought Thieves and Santa Hates You to round out the set. Full show notes and contact info at www.aztalanturf.com.
Brand spanking new video from Minneapolis’ Gabriel and the Apocalypse. They’re opening for Icon of Coil on 9/12 at Ground Zero. LOVE IT!
Thira performing at Dean’s Tavern in St. Paul, MN 2012-03-03. You can see from this video why taking photos was nearly impossible…
Well that was the most challenging set I’ve ever tried shooting. The only thing that could have made it more difficult would have been smoke.
At tonight’s Thira show, they had all the house lights off and only used the band’s lights, which were rigged to turn off and on with the music. It was really cool as a part of the audience, but as a photographer…yikes! This was a “just shoot as many photos as possible and pray the you catch the lights at the right split second and the camera is in focus” type night! I’m going through the shots now to see if there are any that are usable.
